Pearl Harbor - 75 Years Ago

Such a sad day in the history of the United States. 

2,335 U.S. servicemen were killed and 1,143 were wounded

during this surprise attack from the Japanese.

It was this event that brought the US into World War II.

Franklin D. Roosevelt called it "A day which will live in infamy"

Here's a photo I took while visiting the World War II Memorial in Washington DC.

Very Cool State Maps Illustrated by Hello Niccoco

I've always loved maps. 

Antique maps of the old world, especially.

(The only maps I don't love are the ones in the glove box

that for the life of me, I can never re-fold!)

Illustrated maps are especially cool.

Nicole Duquette, of Hello Niccoco, does a really great job of 

going state-by-state to show off what makes each one special!

Nicole lives in one of my favorite towns- Lancaster, PA.

Saving the best state for last!

I discovered Nicole's terrific talent at her booth in Lancaster's Mad Cap & Co.

A Stroll Through the Mad Hatter Antique Mall in Adamstown, PA

Adamstown is the antique capital of Pennsylvania,

so I knew that eventually I'd need to make a road trip there!

When that day arrived, I chose Mad Hatter Antiques for my first stop.

It's name was given since the building used to be a hat factory!

After a 2008 renovation, the 15,000 square feet of space 
took on a new life, housing over 100 antique vendors. 

This chandelier is pretty similar to the one that was in my 

childhood home, so I got some serious warm-fuzzies!

This gets my blue ribbon award for the most unique item:

a wooden Texas-shaped display of various types of barbed wire!
