Vintage Treasures from Hunt & Found

I found a great vintage shop on Etsy called Hunt & Found!
Based in Omaha, Nebraska, Julie has collected some terrific treasures to sell.
I love the addition of a unique vintage item or antique to a home's decor.
It grounds us, paying homage to what we once were and to how far we've come.

Enjoy my favorites from Hunt & Found!

Very Cool State Maps Illustrated by Hello Niccoco

I've always loved maps.
Antique maps of the old world, especially.
(The only maps I don't love are the ones in the glove box
that for the life of me, I can never re-fold!)

Illustrated maps are especially cool.
Nicole Duquette, of Hello Niccoco, does a really great job of
going state-by-state to show off what makes each one special!
Nicole lives in one of my favorite towns- Lancaster, PA.

Saving the best state for last!

I discovered Nicole's terrific talent at her booth in Lancaster's Mad Cap & Co.
You can read my post about that shop here!

Meticulous Woodcuts by Tugboat Printshop

Wow! So much detail in this print, can it really be a woodcut?
Paul & Valerie, the husband-wife team of Tugboat Printshop,
are responsible for these amazing works of art.
They're based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Did I mention the detail?
Drawing, then cutting, then printing - such an extensive process.
And so worth it, with astounding results like these.

The piece above is called "Community."
Here's a closer look at it, and then photos of a few more of my favorites.

Western Americana Collages by Dolan Geiman

dolan1

I'm always infatuated with collages.
I guess it's because I have an appreciation of the
time consuming steps of this particular art form:
not only sketching the subject, but also
finding and collecting the materials
and piecing it all together.

Dolan Geiman is a true master of mixed media collages.
His creations are western Americana, folk art inspired.

He gathers vintage ephemera, and scraps of discarded wood and metal,
as well as other interesting found materials,
and re-purposes them into a new life as brilliantly assembled art.
His work is very detailed; one can imagine the process as he
meticulously selects and positions each intricate piece.

Based in Colorado, Dolan and his wife and business partner Ali Marie
traverse the country from one show to another.

Food Maps - Henry Hargreaves

Selecting food that's synonymous with that country or continent,
as in the case of corn with the United States,
photographer Henry Hargreaves has created these fantastic food maps!

He joined forces with Caitlin Levin to come up with clever ways in which to
arrange the various forms of each food to distinguish each state or region.
How fun must that have been?  Take a look~
