Strolling the Streets of New Hope

DSC_3887

I'm sharing some photos from a recent Saturday afternoon outing to New Hope, Pennsylvania.
It's a fabulous place to explore! Art galleries, book shops, and quaint spots for a bite to eat.
The New Hope & Ivyland Railroad. Little stores ripe for browsing. The Bucks County Playhouse.
A charming, artsy village that never fails to please!

Lemon Blueberry Dessert

lemonblueberry6

Lemon and blueberries. Two of my favorites. The combination is fabulous!
This recipe shouts "summertime"!
I've taken it to many events and it's always a hit. Hope you'll like it too!

Lemon Blueberry Dessert
Crust-
2 C crushed butter crackers (1 sleeve)
1/3 C powdered sugar
1/3 C butter, melted

Filling-
12 oz Cool Whip, thawed
6 oz frozen lemonade, partially thawed
1 T lemon juice
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
2 C fresh blueberries

Combine crust ingredients and press into bottom of ungreased 9x13" pan.
Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.

Combine filling ingredients, then fold in blueberries.
Spread gently over cooled crust.
Cover and chill 4 hours.

Note: The 6 oz size of lemonade was not available,
so I used half of the 12 oz size as pictured.

Designs in the Sand by Andrés Amador

andresamador13

Wow! Imagine heading to the beach and finding one of these awe-inspiring designs imprinted upon the sand! Using a rake, and sometimes a rope as a compass, Andrés Amador creates large scale patterns on the northern California shoreline. He begins at low tide, working within a 2-hour window and using as much area as the beach has to offer.  Although his works of art will soon be washed into the sea, Andrés focuses on the process. The experience of creating and being within the art is most satisfying to him. Each day, he returns to another blank canvas. Andrés' passion for nature is evident; as he says, "Any day at the beach is a good one."

Baltimore Love Project

BaltimoreLove1

Artist Michael Owen often uses hands as part of his designs. He came up with a sketch of four hands in silhouette, spelling out the word "Love". His appreciation of the city of Baltimore led him to thoughts of giving back, and the Baltimore Love Project was born.

Those four hands, boldly communicating the spirit of love, are now spread throughout the city as huge murals. So far, 16 of the planned 20 have been painted. If you visit Baltimore, keep your eyes peeled and maybe you'll spot one. Thanks, Michael, for sharing something that can't fail to evoke warm feelings of optimism and hope: Love.

Sweets & Treats - Art by Joël Penkman

joelpenkman4

Candy, cookies, cake, donuts and ice cream! Does it get any better than that?
Freelance designer and artist Joël Penkman was born in New Zealand.
Now a resident of the UK, she hopes her pictures "will make people smile".
With subject matter like this, I'd say she can count on it.
