Cuddle + Kind Dolls Help Feed Needy Children

The Woodgate family developed Cuddle + Kind,
a line of adorable hand-knit dolls, each with its own name and personality!
Using premium natural cotton yarn, each doll is of heirloom quality.
The sweet detailed embellishments are amazing!
They're made in 2 sizes: Regular 20" and Little 13".

Being very others-minded, the Woodgates wanted this project to reflect that.
The dolls are ethically produced, giving sustainable employment
and fair trade wages for 500 artisan women in Peru.

For each doll purchased, 10 school meals are provided
to needy children in 65 countries, as well as in the US.
Over 3 million meals have been provided so far!
A truly meaningful gift to give.

May I introduce you to some of the gang?
Meet Ivy the bear.

Here we have the foxes, Sadie & Wyatt.

Aspen the penguin.

 Chelsea the cat.

Pearl and Isla, the mermaids.

Along with dolls, cute prints are available!

Just Try to Contain Yourself at The Container Store!

So here's what happened~
The hubby "needed" to go to Cabela's in Delaware.
My friend Lori told me that The Container Store
happened to be right around the corner.
Sounds like a perfect plan, right?
While he checked out his manly outdoors-man things,
I was in my own version of paradise.

Wow, was I wowed!
I did expect lots of these kinds of things to store pasta and oatmeal in my pantry...

...but, what I didn't expect was the infinite variety of
boxes, baskets, bins,
caddies, crates, and....containers!

I couldn't help myself. (insert eye-rolls from my kids)
I started snapping photos because I was so in awe of the vast
selection of textures and patterns, and especially-
color, color, color!

Get ready to sort, toss, purge, alphabetize and organize
everything in your home because THIS is the place to be inspired!

Each room of your house can and should be re-vamped:
kitchen, laundry room, kid's room, office, garage...
Every. Single. Room.

This is all about that "place for everything and everything in its place."

And isn't it SO much more enjoyable to store things in attractive containers?

You can always shop on The Container Store's website,
but it's so fun to visit a store,
wander up and down the aisles,
and be inspired!

Fun Faux Food by the Copacetic Crocheter

Word of the day: copacetic.
Pleasant, fine, pleasing, delightful.

Normalynn Ablao, of California, is the Copacetic Crocheter,
"where fun meets a hook."
She has gone way beyond the usual crocheted afghan
and has used her talent & imagination to create food out of yarn.
It looks pretty realistic, if you ask me!

Noralynn sells her patterns so that you can get in on the faux food fun.
Take a look at these delicious crocheted goodies!

So many pastas on the menu!

Buffalo wings, complete with blue cheese dressing!

How about some clam chowder in a bread bowl?

Lattes for two!

A sweet pastry tray!

Homemade chipwiches!

Ice cream in a waffle cone. Can't forget the cherry.

Darling mini-cakes!

Much more here:

Collections: Baking Pies with Pie Birds

Ever see one of these? It's called a "pie bird."
Dating back to Victorian times, pie birds are placed in the center of pies
to serve as a vent for steam produced from juicy fruit fillings.
The use of one results in a nice, flaky crust,
not to mention a very cute pie!

This nursery rhyme comes to mind~
Sing a song of sixpence a pocket full of rye...

A charming vignette.

Poultry pie birds.

Salt glaze.

Not to be outdone by their feathered friends,
a sheep, a frog and a dragon get in on the act.

Quite a collection!

Have you baked a pie with a pie bird?
If so, what did you think of the result?
(Let us know in the comments!)

Stay tuned...
I'm on the lookout for the perfect vintage pie bird
and plan to share my baking experience!
