Welcome, Autumn!

Autumn is such a glorious time of year!
A season when the chilly air calls us
to snuggle into our sweaters while sipping our
favorite warm drinks from mugs.
Enjoy my selection of things that speak of autumn.
Crisp, cozy, autumn.

"And all at once, summer collapsed into fall."
-Oscar Wilde

Amanda Anderson's Vibrant Mosaics

"Then the dove came to him in the evening, and behold, a freshly plucked olive leaf was in her mouth;
and Noah knew that the waters had receded from the earth." Genesis 8:11
Isn't this mosaic piece just gorgeous? It's called This is the Place.

Amanda Anderson is a super talented mosaic artist.
In addition to colorful stained glass, she uses patterned ceramic pieces
and millefiori glass to make her creations.
She uses a dark grout so that the inlaid pieces really stand out in contrast.
Inspired by the bold textiles of India and Mexico, Amanda's pieces are lively and fun!

Vintage Art In Recognition of Arbor Day

In recognition of Arbor Day,
celebrated every year on the last Friday in April,
I'm featuring this 1955 artwork by George Hughes.
It's called "Put the Tree There?".
Wondering how many husbands can relate!
(I think mine can!)

The Textile Art Trees of Lorraine Roy

Lorraine Roy, of Ontario, Canada, is a master at "painting with fabric."
She has an education in horticulture- trees in particular-
and experience with plant sciences
so it's easy to recognize the source of her inspiration.

Lorraine's special technique involves artistically combining
great quantities of threads and fabric pieces beneath nylon tulle.
She says, "Nothing brings me more joy than to
coax order and beauty out o a messy jumble of materials."
The results, as you can see, are spectacular!

Lorraine has created fabulous works of art that truly celebrate
the beauty and majesty of trees in their natural surroundings.
