Celebrating the GIFT of Christmas!

"For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace."
Isaiah 9:6

Give Thanks to Him & Praise His Name -Psalm 100:4

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that
the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”
– John Fitzgerald Kennedy

With full hearts, let us live out our appreciation
for our God, our families, and our friends.
Grateful. Blessed.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Easter Blessings: In Christ Alone, My Hope is Found

"In Christ Alone" is a powerful song written by Stuart Townend & Keith Getty.
We've sung it at our church for many years, and it has come to be my favorite.

It features the timeless message of the gospel-
the biblical truth of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

Our hope is in the firm foundation of Christ -alone.
Meaning... just Christ.
Not Christ + going to church.
Not Christ + donating to charities.
Not Christ + obeying the Ten Commandments.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith,
and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
not of works, lest anyone should boast." Ephesians 2:8,9

It's not about what we have to do,
it's about what Jesus already DID.

"But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed." Isaiah 53:5

Each and every verse is dynamic.
"What heights of love!"
"What depths of peace!"

Listen to Lauren Daigle's beautiful rendition
from YouTube, with lyrics below.

Rejoice in what He did for us...for YOU.
We stand in the love and power of Christ.

In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All,
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone! - who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe.
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save:
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied -
For every sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine -
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand:
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

Doors of the World & Christ's Message of Salvation

Sweden

Doors have particular significance in Scripture.
Although each of these doors, with its own beautiful architecture,
represents a different country, the message of Christ's offer
of salvation through Him is universal and remains the same
for every country,
in any language,
to all people.

Contemplate each of these Bible verses,
take in the artistry of these doors from around the globe,
then consider:
Have you knocked?
Have you opened?
Have you entered?

 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds;
and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened."
Matthew 7:6-8

"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears my voice and opens the door
I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me."
Revelation 3:20

 "I am the door.
If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved,
and will go in and out and find pasture."
John 10:9

Glory to God in the Highest!

"And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby,
keeping watch over their flocks at night.
An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them,
and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid.
I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.
Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.
This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.'"
Luke 2:8-12

"Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel,
praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.'"
Luke 2:13,14

Seeds of Faith's Christian Scripture Art - For Men

Savannah Hernandez, of Riverside, California,
sells Christian art through her business, Seeds of Faith.
She "plants God's Word one print at a time,"
and offers them as digital downloads and on mugs as well.

Although there are many examples of her work that I could show you,
I've decided to feature selections that are geared more toward the guys.
So often Scripture art is fussy and flowery. Lovely, yes, but often too feminine.
Here are my favorites that are more suitable for men's homes or offices.
Consider these, too, for any decor that's less frilly and more tailored.

Here's where you can find Seeds of Faith~

Corrie ten Boom's Embroidery: Despite the Knots & Tangles in Life, by Faith, There is a Crown

Corrie ten Boom used this fabric when she taught about
trusting God's perspective. We can't see what He sees.

What a beautiful, tangible illustration of God's presence in our lives!
The image on the right, as those of us who do stitchery know,
shows the underside of a project. It's where all the knotted thread ends up,
very often in a tangled, chaotic mess!
On the flip side, however, we see the project as it is intended to be;
a beautiful crown, embroidered with love and tender care.

Although~
We can't seem to get our acts together.
We're a bunched up, stressed out, tangled mess.
We procrastinate. We choose the easy way.
We stand back instead of standing tall.
We remain comfortable instead of reaching beyond.
We stay silent instead of speaking up or speaking out.
We keep still instead of stepping forward.

We're distracted, disgruntled, disinclined.
We run away instead of running toward.
We find excuses not to read His Word.
We fret and worry instead of bowing in prayer.
Our trust is in men and not in God.
We look away when we should look to Him.
We get tripped up and stumble.
We fall. We fail.

And yet~
Through our faith in Jesus Christ, we are royalty.
He is a God of forgiveness, of mercy, of love.
We are daughters of a king.
Not just any king.
The King of Kings.

He sees the crown.
"The crown of righteousness..." 2 Timothy 4:8
"The crown of life..." James 1:12
"The crown of glory..." 1 Peter 5:4

Know that in the midst of our knotted, tangled lives, the Lord is always there,
waiting for us to come to Him to receive our crowns.

With thanks to tenboom.org for sharing a photo of this embroidery,
which is hanging at the Corrie ten Boom Museum in Haarlem, Holland.

Scripture Art by Lens of Light Photography

Carli Milacci's passion for travel has taken her to beautiful countries
around the globe such as Italy, Switzerland and Israel.
Among her favorite destinations within the US are Wyoming, and Alaska.
She's had many unique opportunities to take gorgeous photos,
and has decided to use her talent for photography to bring glory to God.

Carli bases the creation of her wall art on Deuteronomy 6:5-9,
which instructs us to always keep God's Word on our minds,
placing it "on the doorposts of your house and on your gates."
The artistic addition of Scripture to her photos encourages us to do just that.
She hopes her art will help us to "be reminded of God's promises,
meditate on His goodness, and rejoice in all that
He has given to us and done for us in Christ Jesus."

Carli accepts special orders; if you have a favorite Bible verse
she'd be happy to add it to any of her photographs!
She also offers any of her pieces translated into Spanish.
