Lovely Painted Florals by Between the Weeds

Walk through the garden with me and look
"Between the Weeds"
where you'll find delightful flowers
painted by artist Laurie Rohner.

Soft and airy, light and breezy.
You'll see cone flowers, Queen Anne's lace, thistles and hollyhocks.
A chubby bumblebee is sure to buzz by now and then!

Relax and enjoy your stroll!

Laurie also hand-paints beautiful furniture
& accessory pieces, taking custom orders as well.

Here's where you can find Between the Weeds:

Cherry Acres of Lititz, PA

cherry1

Yes, Cherry Acres is a furniture store,
specializing in fantastic pieces made from lumber that has been
reclaimed from barns and buildings that were over 100 years old.
The furniture is made both in their Lititz shop
and by local Lancaster County Amish craftsmen.

Cherry Acres also sells unique accessories such as
hand-blown pitcher & glass sets, Talavera pottery, and more.
Snapped some photos of the things I liked best~

 Chimineas, oil can sculptures.

The Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen - Lancaster, PA

PAguild1

On one of my strolls through downtown Lancaster, PA,
I came upon 335 N. Queen Street, the headquarters of the
Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen.

I love the Guild's mission:
"Recognizing that the making of craft enriches all,
Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen seeks to
encourage the practice of and nurture excellence in heritage and contemporary crafts.
We do this through education, advocacy & support of the practicing craftsman."

There were so many fabulous handcrafted items
either on display in the gallery or for sale in the shop!

The Amazing Antique Roentgen Desk

metmuseum

David Roentgen, of Germany,
designed and built this Berlin secretary cabinet in 1779.
It is considered to be his greatest work, filled with
secret compartments and clever mechanical features.
Ornately decorated with marquetry panels and gilding, it is
one of the most expensive pieces of furniture ever built.
Once owned by King Frederick William II of Prussia, it is now
on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, NY.

Get ready to be awestruck when you watch this video!

How about this for a materials list?
Oak, Pine, Walnut, Mahogany, Cherry and Cedar.
Veneered with Curly Maple, Burl Maple and Mahogany.
Marquetry in Maple, Hornbeam, Apple, Walnut, Mulberry, Tulipwood and Rosewood.
Plus Ivory, Mother-of-pearl, Gilt Bronze, Brass, Steel, Iron and Silk.
