The Resurrection Mural

As Easter draws near, I've decided that the best way to celebrate at My Paisley World

is to share with you The Resurrection Mural  by Ron DiCianni.

Ron was commissioned by The Museum of Biblical Art in Dallas, TX.

It took him over 2 years to complete his oil painting, which measures 12 feet high and 40 feet wide.

The video I've included below features Ron himself, explaining the vivid depth of his masterpiece.

MoMA Design Store – SoHo NYC

The MoMA Design Store was such an interesting place to investigate.

We visited the SoHo, NYC store.  MoMA stands for Museum of Modern Art. 

According to their website, they "exemplify good design with a well-edited selection of products 

highlighting the latest in materials, production, and design concepts from around the world."

I was immediately drawn to this River Stones Bowl.  It was designed in Italy exclusively for MoMA.
The goal was to suspend the tiny pebbles in clear acrylic, giving the impression of  the way you look through the water to see them in nature. There' s also a River Stones Platter. 

Such a fun interpretation of a vase! The Outline Vase is made of porcelain, designed in Japan. 

I think every home should have a touch of whimsy!

Speaking of fun...a colorful zipper purse, 

and the Keybag, designed in Portugal, which is composed of almost 400 plastic keyboard keys.

Here's the Distortion Candlestick. Isn't it kooky?

The 2 Carat Cup  would be a clever gift for that newly engaged young lady you may know!

That's a Swarovski crystal! It's available in either silver or gold. 

The cute Toast It Coasters are packaged like a loaf of bread!

Mid-century wall clocks! Each one designed by George Nelson.

Beginning at the top and going clockwise, (could I resist?):

Nelson Wall Clock, Sunburst Clock, and Eye Clock.

Erik Johansson, Photo & Retouch

Work at Sea

Erik Johansson, of Berlin, Germany, comes up with an idea. An illusion. 

His challenge is to make that illusion appear to be reality. 

Using his camera and computer, he works his magic and enters the world of surrealism. This goes way beyond the boundaries of imagination and creativity!

Born in Sweden, Erik grew up with a love for drawing. He studied computer engineering 

in college, graduating with a masters degree in Interaction Design. 

He taught himself photography and retouching, 

and married these skills to his computer savvy. 

The results are incredible!

The Art of ... Foxes

We’ve raised chickens, and any fox in the area was always "Arch-Enemy Number 1". 

However, I like foxes. I like their bright orange fur and artsy markings.

From way back, my kids and I developed a fondness for a certain
Foxy Whiskered Gentleman from the Beatrix Potter story,
“The Tale of Jemima Puddle-duck”.

I think I'll take this opportunity to tip my hat to the fox.

Don & Ann’s Antique Roe - Bird in Hand, PA

I've been across the thresholds of many antique stores in my day. 

This one ranks pretty high up there. 

An infinite variety of items, displayed in such clever, artsy ways.
 A visit to Don & Ann's Antique Roe is an entertaining treasure hunt!

Located at 2705 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bird in Hand, Pennsylvania,

Don & Ann's sits a bit off the road, between buildings as you see here.

A little history for you:

The reason behind the shop's name is that Don & Ann's last name is Roe.
The pair set up their antique shop in the town of Gap in Lancaster County,
before it was moved to its current location in the neighboring village of Bird in Hand.
  

Their grandson Josh Roe & his wife Leanne now run the business. 

Prior to this, Leanne had been a nurse for 9 years, 

but left nursing to manage the store, which she is passionate about!
I met her that day and enjoyed our chat. She has a real knack for merchandising!

More juicy background:
Don & Ann's Antique Roe has supplied antiques for movie sets!
One example is "Beloved", which starred and was produced by Oprah Winfrey.
Another - remember the bell that was rung in M. Knight Shyamalan's "The Village"? Yep.
Pretty cool, eh?

Abigail Brown Textile Art Birds

London, England is the home of Abigail Brown and the gorgeous birds that she hand-stitches from scraps of fabric. She enjoys gathering old, worn clothing to use for her creations. Her interest in sewing came naturally, having spent much of her childhood with her grandmother, who was a seamstress. A fascination with animals and birds inspired her to design these beautiful treasures. Such talent!
