Rice’s Sale & Country Market, New Hope PA
Way back in 1860, A .L. Rice auctioned off some items on his Pennsylvania farm. Word spread to neighbors far and wide, who then brought their cattle and farm equipment to be auctioned. Eventually, he added a market to sell produce.
150 years later, Rice's Sale & Country Market has up to 400 vendors selling wares, both old and new. Clothing and accessories, hand-crafted items, plants, antiques and collectibles, baked goods, fruits and vegetables. As beautiful Bucks County's oldest and largest outdoor market, it has become very well known in the area, attracting up to 8,000 customers a day!
Over time, owners Barbara & Bobby Blanche have made strides to update the 30 acre market. They built indoor restrooms, paved the pathways to make wheelchair and stroller use a breeze, and added an ATM.
My dear friend Lisa introduced me to Rice's over 25 years ago, and we've met there many times since. What a fun shopping experience! These photos will give you some idea of what Rice's is all about.
