Kate Themel's Fabulous Fiber Art

Wowed by the fiber art creations of Kate Themel, I just had to share them!
Kate, who lives in Connecticut, asks, "Who needs paint?"
She prefers fabric as her artistic medium, and then adds
machine stitching to achieve texture, depth, and detail.
Honey Bee, above, with a close up below, shows off her level of expertise.
Enjoy these fine examples of Kate's true talent and creativity!

Amazing Art Quilts by Jane Hicks

The art quilts of Jane Hicks caught my eye. Such talent!
Jane began by designing and sewing clothes for Barbie dolls.
Years later, she now creates flamboyant quilts splashed with rainbows of color!
Jane, from the commonwealth of Virginia, especially loves to use batik fabrics.
Her work is extraordinary, wouldn't you agree?

Twiggy & Opal's Colorful Modern Quilts

Unlike most stories I've come across about folks who've learned a craft
from their grandmothers or moms, Jayne's daughter taught her to quilt.
She discovered "a passion she never knew she had"
and soon started her own business~ Twiggy & Opal.

She lets the fabric take the lead while creating fantastic geometric patterns.
Always inspired by color, her works have a fresh, modern flair!

Jayne doesn't stop at quilts; she also makes
wall hangings, pillows, baby quilts and table runners.

These are my Twiggy & Opal favorites~

The Fantastic Fiber Art of Carol Ann Waugh

Textile artist Carol Ann Waugh does magical things with fabric.
Based in Denver, CO, she has an impressive resume as long as my arm.

Carol's contemporary art is nothing short of amazing.
It encompasses a wide variety of techniques;
it's quilting, it's fiber art, it's fantastic!
I'm crazy about the combinations of bright colors she chooses,
especially the delicious plum shown above and below.
Her stitches add such depth, such texture, such movement.

I've gathered my favorite pieces here for you,
paired with close-ups so you can really appreciate her work.

Carol's book, "Stupendous Stitching,"
can be ordered here.

Bozena19

Handcrafted quilts are beautiful,
and art quilts, stitched together with decorative flair, are especially so.
Bozena Wojtaszek, of Poland, is a self-taught quilter.
Her contemporary creations are exquisite, often embellished with embroidery & beading.

I've selected several of my favorites and paired each one with close-up photo
so that we can appreciate the detailing and the fine craftsmanship of this talented artist.
