Incredibly Realistic Glass Berries

Berries. One of my very favorite things.
Succulent, juicy, red raspberries!
No, these aren't real, but they sure look real, don't they?
They're made of sculpted glass. Amazing, right?
I came across them in Beth Johnson's Etsy shop, GlassBerries.

Here's a great story:
As Beth worked to perfect her sculpting technique, and was finally satisfied,
she strung a few raspberries and wore them as a necklace.
When some one asked her how she kept the berries from staining her shirt,
she knew that she'd achieved her goal of creating a lifelike berry!

Beth also uses her glass berries to make fabulous jewelry!

A Great Day at the Doylestown, PA Arts Festival

A perfect September afternoon to head to Doylestown,
the county seat of beautiful Bucks County, PA, for its annual Arts Festival!
We took our time browsing through the canopies of 160 talented artisans.
Creativity was definitely in the air!

I met James Maloney, of One Man's Trash, who creates clever
Pennsylvania-proud pieces of art by recycling old license plates.
His new bride of just two weeks was there too. (Aaah...true love.)

Very cool succulents and cacti by Bucks County Flowers and Things.

Creative belt buckles artistically displayed in vintage sewing cabinet drawers.

Nichols Pottery features a "Civil War Cup," which is hardier than the average mug.
With confederate soldiers often needing to melt down their tin cups for bullets,
North Carolina potters made mugs generous enough to hold stew, as well as coffee.

The festivities included the Bucks County Classic pro cycling event.
It was a thrill to see the high-speed racers streak by as they circled through the town!
Enthusiastic fans cheered them on with whistles and cow bells!

I encourage you to attend the next Doylestown Arts Festival
for a wonderful day of handcrafted treasure hunting!

Colleen and I had a most enjoyable time!

Our Visit to Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens

magicgardens1

Isaiah Zagar is the artist responsible for covering a half-block of South Street
in Philadelphia, PA with a mosaic creation like no other.
Part indoor gallery and part outside sculpture garden, it totals 3,000 square feet.
Tiles, statuary, mirrors, glass bottles, vases, bicycle wheels, plates, pottery.
Over a period of 14 years, Isaiah dug down and built up, making stairways
and tunnels through this little world of art that was fascinating to explore.
We were set for an adventure and that's just what we got!

Located at 1020 South Street, the Magic Gardens can be partially seen by passers-by,
but is sectioned off by this wall and ornamental iron gates.
You may have noticed it as you've walked or driven by - hard to miss!
