Las Brisas - Laguna Dining with a Spectacular View

A favorite Laguna Beach restaurant is

Las Brisas, located at 361 Cliff Drive.

As the address suggests, this eatery is perched atop a cliff

overlooking the beach and the magnificent Pacific Ocean!

Built in 1938, the original name was The Victor Hugo Inn,

which, you may recognize, was named for the author of the well-known

The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Les Miserables.

In 1979, it was changed Las Brisas, Spanish for "breezes."

My family will attest to the fact that I love to dine outside.

I'm always scouting out places with an outside patio option.

This is hands-down the best view I've ever taken in at a restaurant.
Add that to its Mexican flair and fresh seafood - for me, that's the total package!

How can you beat this?

Heat lamps stand at attention, ready to chase away 

the January chill after the sun goes down.

Perimeter lanterns will soon come alive to add their glow to the ambiance.

Here's my meal: a seafood enchilada,

a grilled mahi-mahi taco,

plus rice and beans. Yummy!

Such a gorgeous panoramic view! Breathtaking!

The Laguna Colony Company - Laguna Beach, CA

Strolling down Forest Avenue, in Laguna Beach,

I came upon The Laguna Colony Company.

Drawn in by its angled architecture, I was wowed by the selection of 

water-hued and beach-themed decor. See for yourself!

Beach-front breakfast at The Greeter's Corner!

Here's how this well-known eatery got its unusual name:

It began during the years of the Great Depression, when a friendly gesture 

from Eiler Larsen brought optimism and encouragement.

40 years-worth of waves & smiles earned him the title of "Official Laguna Greeter" in 1963.

His South Coast Highway corner of choice is the restaurant's location.

Eiler died in 1975. You can see his footprints in the sidewalk nearby.

Here's my photo of the life-size statue (sadly, sans thumb) honoring Eiler.

I'd like to think that when folks drop by and learn his story,

they leave inspired to reveal a friendly side of themselves

that they may have been hesitant to show before.

A wave, a smile; they go a long way.

They usually make the giver feel as good as the recipient.

Encouraging. Uplifting. Hopeful.

And they're free.

Guess I was just too hungry and delighted at the sight of my 

Eggs Benedict with avocado and mushrooms to wait another moment!

Trust me. Delicious!
