Kaleidoscopic Food Scans by Hargreaves & Levin

With some help from a scanner, artists Henry Hargreaves & Caitlin Levin capitalize
on the beauty of fruits and veggies by cleverly arranging them in detailed patterns.
The mirror images remind me of the cardboard kaleidoscopes we had as kids.
Look closely to recognize asparagus, figs, pears, and so on.

See more on their website.

Here's another post I did featuring Hargreaves & Levin:

Appreciating Vintage Vegetable Seed Catalogs

With gardening season upon us, I'm showing off
the beautiful covers of some vintage vegetable seed catalogs.
These are from the late 1800's through the turn of the century into the 1920's.

Backyard gardeners of every era have loved that smell of newly tilled soil
and enjoyed of the hard-to-beat flavor of home-grown vegetables.

From Dorothy Frances Gurney's poem, "God's Garden":
The kiss of the sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth,--
One is nearer God's heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth.

Take a few minutes to appreciate this wonderful artwork,
as well as the extensive use of decorative typography.

Eataly NYC

eataly1

A favorite stop in New York City is Eataly, an Italian market extrordinaire!
Located at 200 5th Avenue, Eataly is quite the gastronomic experience!

Besides dining opportunities to taste superb Italian dishes,
Eataly offers the best quality available in cheeses, meats, breads and pasta.
You'll find decadent chocolates, robust coffees and rich sauces.
Aromatic olive oils, crusty Italian breads and lots of vino.

Become educated by taking one of their classes on Italian cuisine.
There's a huge selection of kitchen gadgets and gifts.
Since restaurateurs Lidia Bastianich and Mario Batali are among the
founders of Eataly, you'll see their books and products throughout.
It's an all-around fabulous place to visit!
